A correspondent bank is a financial institution that provides services to another one—usually in another country. It acts as an intermediary or agent, facilitating wire. Een correspondentbank (Engels: correspondent account) is een kredietinstelling in het buitenland waarmee een binnenlandse kredietinstelling een zakelijke bankrelatie heeft, om overdrachten of transacties in het internationale betalingsverkeer te verwerken.
